2 Things To Look at When Comparing Fencing Estimates

When you are thinking about getting a new fence for your yard, you need to make sure that you get an estimate on how much it's going to cost. You will actually want to get a few estimates so that you can pick the one that's the best for you and your needs. So what kinds of things should you be looking for when comparing your estimates?

Materials

You want to make sure that each estimate talks about the same kind fencing material, rather than each quoting a different style or type. That way you are going to be comparing apples to apples, not apples to oranges. When you ask for the estimate, you might want to ask each fencing contractor about a couple different kinds of fencing materials. That way, if your first choice is more expensive than you thought it might be, then you will still have an idea of price when it comes to your second choice.

Labor

Another thing that you should look at when you are comparing estimates is the labor costs. Ideally, all labor hours should be about the same. If you have one estimate that's got a drastically lower amount of hours when it comes to labor, then you might be tempted to go with that one. But you might want to ask yourself why that particular estimate has fewer labor hours while your other estimates may be right in line with each other. Having a lower labor cost per hour or lower labor hours for dealing with one particular part of the job is one thing, but taking fewer hours overall to do the job can be a sign of problems, including things like not having the fence installed correctly. So when it comes to comparing the labor costs, make sure that you are comparing how many hours each estimate says the job is going to take as well as how much it's going to cost per hour to do the job.

Good fences can make good neighbors, but before they can do that, they need to be built. To do that, you are going to need to make sure that you have a good fencing contractor do the job for you. The way to find a good one is to get a couple estimates and compare both materials and labor costs.
